Baltimore Canon Charity Concert (Sunday, June 19) & Next One This Sunday!

This past Sunday's Charity Concert was a success! The church was filled with many young and old, couples, families, Japanese, locals and church members--all enjoyed Baltimore Canon's music, and food provided by the members. Baked goods were sold out too! Thanks to all who supported the event! 


Thanks also to the ISJapan3.11 members who spent their weekend to cook for the bake sale. Kudos to Junko Allen, an Origami artist who have been donating her beautiful origami arts and stationery at every event. Special thanks to Baltimore Canon to let us join you! 


All proceeds will be donated to selected organizations by Baltimore Canon. Announcement will soon be made on their website: http://www.geocities.jp/Baltimore_Canon/E/index.htm. 


For those who missed this concert, or would like to experience the excitement again, there will be another concert in Baltimore city this Sunday. Program will be different from the June-19th concert, and yes, there will be a bake sale too. Admission is free and everyone is welcomed. Please bring your family!

先週末、ボルチモア郊外で行われたボルチモア歌音の第９回演奏会は大成功でした。会場となった教会は満席。家族連れも多く、堅苦しくないクラシック中心のコンサートを楽しまれた様子。ベークセールも大盛況で、買ってすぐに食べてからまた購入された方々、美味しいからレシピが欲しいという男の子、またお買い上げ金額を大幅に超えた募金をしてくださった方等に恵まれ、全て売り切れました。ありがとうございました！

土日返上でベークセール出品のため頑張ってくれた ISJapan3.11のメンバーの皆さん、またまた素晴らしい折り紙作品を提供くださったアレン順子さん、大変お疲れ様でした。素敵なイベントに参加させてくださったボルチモア歌音にも大感謝です。今週末も宜しくお願いします！


・・・というわけで今週日曜日、ボルチモア市の教会にてコンサートです。先週来られなかった方は是非！プログラムも違うそうですので、いらした方にも楽しんでいただけます。入場は無料、小さなお子さんも大歓迎だそう。

Pray for Japan ～桜のワシントン DC から～ （by ガス 浩子）

Looking back, weekends in the MD/VA/DC area were a full of charity bazaar and events. At church, someone's house, Japanese language school, Japanese kindergarten, Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC . . . everyone worked hard to raise money for the earthquake/tsunami victims in Japan. Thanks to Hiroko Gus, some of these events were put together and can be viewed on YouTube. 


It's been 100 days since the disaster. People in the world continues to pray for Japan and will make efforts to support all who were affected. 

振り返ってみると4月5月は毎週末、どこかでチャリティーバザーがありました。個人のお宅、教会、日本語補習校や幼稚園でも、本当に数え切れないくらいのバザーや催し物をやっていました。またワシントンＤＣでは恒例の桜祭りで日本の震災支援のブースが設置され、募金やメッセージが寄せられたようです。ＤＣ周辺にお住まいのガス浩子さんがそれらのイベントをまとめ、日本への応援メッセージのビデオを作ってくださいました。

震災から100日が経ちました。世界のあちこちで、日本への祈り、支援活動は続いています。
